Photos and Drawings

When you use Purple Crayon to scan a drawing:

  • The photo of the drawing is processed to generate a 3D character
  • Photos are processed on-device when possible and sent to our secure servers only when needed for 3D generation
  • Processed images are deleted from our servers within 24 hours after the 3D model is generated
  • Generated 3D models are stored locally on your device

Camera and AR Data

Purple Crayon uses your device's camera for:

  • Scanning drawings from paper
  • Augmented reality placement of 3D characters
  • Recording videos of AR experiences

Camera data is never transmitted to our servers. AR processing happens entirely on-device using Apple's ARKit framework.

Account Information

Purple Crayon does not require an account to use basic features. If you sign up for notifications or premium features, we may collect:

  • Email address (for waitlist and notifications)
  • Apple ID (if using Sign in with Apple for premium features)

Payment Information

All payments and subscriptions are processed securely by Apple via the App Store. We do not collect or store your credit card details or billing information.

Usage and Diagnostics

We collect limited, anonymous diagnostic data to improve app stability:

  • Crash reports
  • Performance metrics (e.g., 3D generation time)
